What is IQF
IQF technology stands for Individually Quick Frozen technology. It is a process of freezing products quickly. The objective is to preserve the quality of the goods and prevent the large ice crystals formation that could damage the products.
This style of frozen food packaging is incredibly unique due to its ability to individually freeze all elements of a product, with each item separately frozen.
How IQF Works
Freezing the product with ultra-cold, ultra-fast freezing methodology which results in significantly tiny ice crystal formation. IQF ensures the freezing process produce almost no ice crystals inside of the product itself. This preserves the food and prevent the cells within the food becoming damages.
What is Glaze
A protective layer of frozen water that helps to preserve the freshness of the seafood. 8% to 12% glaze is common but up to 40% is seen in the marketplace. Glaze is good but be careful not to pay for the water!
It is an effective seafood packaging aid to reduce the risk of damaging the goods’ quality during transport and storage. Glazing minimise the risk of contact with the air and extends the durability of the product.

Dipping or spraying the frozen seafood with potable water. The amount of glaze depends on the temperature of both the product and the water.
